Numbing effects last for 1 to 2 hours, depending on the strength of the medication, length of time it was left on the skin, and individual patient response. Lengthy procedures, such as getting a large tattoo, may require re-application. Effects have a much shorter duration when used on mucous membranes of the vagina, but again the medication should only be applied to this are with doctor instruction.
